If It Aint Broke Dont Fix It!

"What has the internet done for you lately", or should I say "What have you done on the internet lately"? Since the insertion of the internet into my life, I can say that my life has become somewhat easier. I can shop, make music, and take classes on the internet. But as I have come to learn in this life, when you have too much of a good thing their is always someone lurking in the shadows ready to screw it up. This is the case for indie-labels in the form of "the attack on net neutrality". Since the beginning of the internet, all sites have downloaded at the same rate depending on content and other simple things. Now some internet providers want to begin charging to have certain websites load faster than others. For the indie folks this could spell trouble. So some musicians have formed The Rock the Net campaign in order to make sure that "net neutrality" is'nt done away with. If it is, some smaller labels and musicians who cannot afford or don't want to pay to have their pages load faster could be lost in the madness. On the other side of the battlefield are coporations such as AT&T, Verizon Communications, and Comcast. You know that they are salivating at the chance to be able to charge content providers for priority web traffic. Well known artist such as R.E.M and Sarah McLachlan have joined the fight against the darkside.

J Dilla - Nothing Like This

This is an example of genius. The video is dope as hell, and this is one of my favorite joints on Ruff Draft. That damn drum is killing it! Experience It!

Dilla With The Gangsta Sh*t!

Sure. Everyone is on Mr. Yancey's nuts these days. Its sad, but thats usually how todays society works. Your fame multiplys ten times when your dead.......Just ask Pac and Biggie. It seems like Dilla has come out with a boat load of material since his death. And It's all pretty classic music too. The latest is titled "Ruff Draft". Many people don't know that this is actually a re-release by Stones Throw with a few extra joints on it. It was released in 03 by German label GrooveAttack. This record comes with a second disc with the instrumentals of the first disc. I got it yesterday and has truly been a journey for the ears. Different soundscapes that are very refreshing. It also comes with a cassette tape. That blew my mind! They really took it back with this one. I think they only have a limited amount so you better scoop'em fast. And when you get time check out the 3 part Dilla interviews on youtube with: Dj House Shoes, Common, Dwele, and many more.

A Note From: The Guy Who Writes Alot Of This Stuff

So ummmmm when I first started this blog I was just worried that nobody would even look at the damn thing. Now that speed bump has been flattened, a new one has risen. In the form of COMMENTS! It's really retarted actually. At the start of this whole thing people began leaving little comments here and there. It was very interesting, some people commented and I knew them, some I had no clue you even existed. But once the steady flow of comments came, I became...........yes it's true........addicted(Gasp). I just had to have the feedback even if it was just saying "This Shit Blows". I now have a serious fever, and the only way to fix it is..........more comments! Just give me my daily dosage. I know people visit this damn blog on a daily basis. And don't ask how I know. If you can be so kind to drop a line when you visit....I would appreciate it. You can even give me advice on how to make this blog reach its full potential. I don't care, just......................................................comment :-)

It's time again for issue number 5 of the one and only Box Magazine! This quickly became one of my favorite magazines when I saw it on coolhunting.com last year. This is really(literally) the sexiest magazine you will ever see:) I really want to tell you what the contents are in issue 5, but I can't. But what I can do is gaurantee that you will love every cock-thrusting, lip biting, ass smacking bit of it. And if you don't........then you need to be sentenced to a lifetime of watching "My So Called Life" and being fed only skittles and orange Fresca. I don't want to keep you longer than I have to so go! Check out the magazine by licking here>>>>>:)

K'Nex

Everything that's "unique" is'nt acceptable!
I saw this on one of my favorite sites of all time, and I have to say that I was a bit dissapointed in the review that they gave this piece of garbage. First you have to think of "When will I actually wear a high-hill like this?" I know designers are trying to push the envelope, be creative, and bypass the level of mediocrity that runs rampid in the game but........this is just my little cousins lego collection glued to a high-hill frame. In no way is this stylish! I am not even going to say where this is from because I don't want any consumer throwing away their hard earned(strippers:) money. Hypebeast said this was "cutting-edge"? This comes from a site that influences huge amounts of people whom rely on the beast to feed them their opinions. And I love the site, and am in no way bashing the beast! But please reconsider your views on this piece of K'nex. I mean, you do influence alot of people. And I don't want to have to walk down the street and chop someones feet off because they are wearing these damn things! Then again, do as you want. Who are we to judge?

So yeah, Inquiring Minds did an interview with Jeff Staple, one of the most stylish hustlers we have seen in a minute. It's a typical interview but his perspective on things is as real as it can get. Staple also points the flashlight on the effect of the internet on street culture, his favorite clothing lines, and his artist selection for the gallery. The interview is also in video format for you people who did'nt attend the "Derek Zoolander School for Kids Who Can't Read Good". To check the interview out just click the Inquiring Minds link to the right. It's that easy.....and be sure to watch "I'm from Rolling Stone" 2morrow:)

F*ck Free Lunch

I guess this country does'nt believe in good deeds anymore. I read this article on USATODAY that jusrt made me mad. "What were you doing on USATODAY" you ask? I peep the money section a few times a week. They have some very priceless info on saving and managing money. But back to the story. I see this article that said that a Subway owner lets his employees have a free $5 meal everyday if they want as a kind of token of appreciation. Awwww aint that sweet.........wrong! The governments greedy hand taxed his but to high heaven for every free meal he has given for the last 3 years! If thats not f*cked up, then I dont know what is. The owner could'nt believe it. He said "I throw away bread every day that we don't use, and I don't pay tax on that....But if I give it to my employees, I have to pay a use tax on that. It just doesn't make sense." He must pay $2,500 in back taxes, interest and penalties. Poor guy:( He just wanted to do something that most buisinesses today don't do, and thats look out for the workers. So stupid the government is!

Definitive Swim

I have had this album for a few days now and I have to say its not something you should give away for free. After a sucessful collab with StonesThrow Records in "Chrome Children", the sick people at cartoon crazy-house Adult Swim are teaming up with indie hip-hop kings Def Jux. The title of the album as you can see is Definitive Swim. All of the information that you want to know is on the damn flyer to the left. So I'll just give you my opinion. It showcases a few Queens MCs in Cool Calm Pete and Despot. You probably know Pete from his former group Babbletron but....who cares. Despot has a sick single out titled "Homesickness", and was once a member of the Lo-Lifes crew. He also has an album coming out on Def Jux as well, so look out for it. My fav joint on the record is Cages "Blood Boy". this is a great collabo because both of these entities are huge trendsetters in what they do. Who knows, maybe the Adult Swim brand will turn into a recorld label. To download this musical mayhem press the graphic on the left. Follow the yellow brick road!

"Im From Rolling Stone"

In a day and age when reality television is'nt really "real", there is one show that pisses on the heads of all the other reality shows. This show is........................ "Im From Rolling Stone"! It's ironically produced by, crap factory, MTV, which is home to b.s shows such as Bams Unholy Union and My Sweet 16. The show is about six young and interesting writers who get a shot to write for the infamous(Sorry Mobb Deep but this show is hotter then you are now) Rolling Stone Magazine. The contestants come from all over with a variety of hang-ups and personalities. In my opinion, the show is basically about the two "left coast" reps Krish and Russell. Both have huge egos and loads of talent. One of them will not take their head out of their ass and write, and the other is too busy spooning interns to realize they have the competition on lock. The rest of the people really are'nt worth mentioning at all except, Tika. She's a lesbian. Thats it. The show comes on Sundays @ 10 my time, so check it out!

Caveman Come-Up

Well I be a cavemans uncle! The Geico cave-homies have been on their "take advantage of my 15minutes of fame" grind. According to ABC, they have ordered for the cave-dudes to produce a pilot for a new show justly titled "Caveman". The concept of the show is displaying the cavemens struggle as they go through life as 30-somethings in a present day ATL. The cave-thugs are famous for starring in Geico commercials pushing that using the Geico Insurances website is "so easy even a caveman could do it". But the cavemen are'nt your average Neandro-dummies, being that they dress like Miami playboys and are super articulate. This show is gonna be a hit! We said it here first so you can take it to the bank! A pilot order does'nt necessarily mean that the show will come to life. It just means that they are seriously thinking about it. But if they are as smart as the cavemen then they will know that this is going to be a hit.

Just Deserts

I just got news that Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five will be inducted into this years Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! Flash and the Furious Five are hip-hop icons if you dont know! They are responsible for hits like "White Lines" and the platinum selling "The Message". They will be the first hip-hop group to be inducted. this is truly a big step for the hip-hop culture. After being rejected for entry the past two years, I guess the "Big Wigs" are becoming more open-minded, or they were smoking some Grade-A during the selection process. But at the end of the day its just another dope accolade for hip-hop royalty. Some other inductees worth mentioning are R.E.M and the Ronnettes. Sesame streets "Bert and Ernie" flipped the melody to a Ronnettes song titled "Be My Baby" and changed it into a song about Berts blanket:) Its funny as hell to this day!

Excalibur

Well I could'nt go to sleep last night because I consumed a large amount of Kool-Aid with about 3 pounds of sugar in it. I even tried to count sheep! It does'nt work. So I just looked at the ceiling and thought about random stuff untill my "revelation" came. I always wondered why guitar players make this orgasmic-like facial expression sometimes when they play. Maybe the drummer farted or they can't stand the smell of their own breath, I don't know. But that face is something different. The guitar is a different type of instrument when you think about it. I know when I hear certain notes, it just makes me feel strange(In a good way). Its like your the guitar and your emotions are the strings. And when played right, you begin to really "feel" the song! I know I seem really Steve Urkel "pocket-protectorish" lame right now but thats the only way I can put it. When I listen to music, especially music with real instruments, I dont just listen to it I have to feel it. Its the same with Electronic or some Hip-Hop music but with a different feeling to it. Each type of music is different, but sometimes you can feel Jimmy Hendrix the same way you can a Kanye West, Little Brother, M.I.A, or a SpankRock. I told a friend that its like the guitar is an Excalibur, and the person playing is just cutting through your soul repeatedly with every note. But Im just babbling on and being strange as hell right about now. Im scaring myself. Stay tuned.
Peace
